My mouth is literally watering writing this review.
Nestled in the heart of Somerville at 40 Bow St, Himalayan Kitchen is a small, unassuming restaurant that delivers big on flavor and warmth. Specializing in Nepali-inspired Indian cuisine, this cozy spot has quickly become one of my favorite go-to places for a delicious and satisfying meal.
The food is simply phenomenal. I started with the vegetable steamed momos—dumplings that were perfectly tender and bursting with flavor. While they were a bit on the salty side, the taste was so delightful that I didn’t mind at all. The Saag Paneer was rich and creamy, the Daal Tadka was comfort in a bowl, and the Bhindi (okra) was cooked to perfection. Each dish was a testament to the authentic and expertly balanced flavors that define Nepali and Indian cuisine.
But what really sets Himalayan Kitchen apart is the warm, welcoming atmosphere created by the owners, Jay and his wife. Their hospitality makes you feel like you’re dining in their home, not just at a restaurant. Despite the casual setting—plastic plates paired with real cutlery—the experience is nothing short of amazing. It’s the kind of place where the food and the people make you want to return again and again.
If you’re looking for a place with incredible food and heartfelt service, Himalayan Kitchen is a must-visit. It’s a hidden gem that offers a true taste of Nepali-Indian cuisine, and I can’t recommend it highly enough.
